Fergus & Jamie’s Livestream Wedding

I (Monica) sent an update regarding our policy in light of the COVID-19 regulations at the start of circuit breaker, and understandably, most of our couples wanted to postpone their special day. Only a handful wanted to proceed with their original date if regulations allowed – one of them being Fergus & Jamie.

I remembered very clearly having a serious discussion with Sebas on whether we should consider adding live stream into our service array. All the while, we have only done live feed services for large wedding venues where attendees might not be able to see what’s happening on stage clearly. Even so, it was a twice/thrice a year kind of thing. So at that point, we really didn’t know how the response for a live stream service would be.

So when Jamie replied to me that while it’s a bit sad that some of their friends and families can’t join them in their wedding celebration, they would still like to proceed with their original date and just be married to each other according to their original plan. I asked if we could switch up their original package with us a little by including live streaming for them in hopes of bridging the distance between them and their overseas friends and families within our means.

Eventually, the live stream happened. What’s beautifully etched in my memory was the words of love and blessings that started appearing in the comments section before the stream even began. The ceremony started around 11am SG timing, but it must have been weird hours for the overseas guests. Later after the wedding, Jamie also shared that some of her guests actually dressed up despite the wee hours to ‘virtually’ join the ceremony.

Watching the heartfelt surprise video that Fergus & Jaimie’s families and friends had specially made to bless and celebrate the joyous occasion for the couple, I was so touched by the love, thankful to have witnessed their matrimony, and amazed by how technology has allowed our daily lives and communication to continue.
